Classical Afternoons for October

Classical Afternoons for October

Weekdays from 2pm-7pm

Dusk over Kodak Parking Lot

After the summer's yield, Lord, it is time
to let your shadow lengthen on the sundials
and in the pastures let the rough winds fly.

As for the final fruits, coax them to roundness.
Direct on them two days of warmer light
to hale them golden toward their term, and harry
the last few drops of sweetness through the wine.

Whoever's homeless now, will build no shelter;
who lives alone will live indefinitely so,
waking up to read a little, draft long letters,
and, along the city's avenues,
fitfully wander, when the wild leaves loosen.

- Day in Autumn, Rainer Maria Rilke

For the past few months, it has been light out as I have walked home in the evening, but no longer! Dusk sneaks in over the course of the afternoon and early evening, and soon we'll be hearing the rustle of leaves in the cold wind outside our windows.

Music is there on the radio for us as...a bright light? A warm blanket? Inspiration in these poetic times? Come hear for yourself by tuning in to Classical 91.5, 90.3. in Houghton, or
right here online.

In addition to pumpkin-flavored everything, October also brings us
Live from Hochstein, which starts October 10th, with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3, conducted by Maestro Arild Remmereit. If you come to these lunchtime concerts, be sure to wave to your friendly host. You're invited to bring your lunch and listen to these concerts in person at the Hochstein Performance Hall, or tune in on the radio or online.

Oh, and are you a fan of the new Classical 91.5 Facebook page yet?
