WXXI celebrates the first day of 2013 with two specials: New Year’s Day from Vienna and Gala First Day Concert with Boston Baroque. From the Golden Hall of Musikverein in Vienna, the Vienna Philharmonic present its annual New Year’s Day from Vienna, airing Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1.Listeners will enjoy hearing treasured waltzes, polkas and more.

Then at 3 p.m. Classical 91.5 travels to Sanders Theatre in Harvard Square for Gala First Day Concert with Boston Baroque. Martin Pearlman conducts Boston Baroque’s period-instrument orchestra in concertos by Corelli and Telemann, and La serva padrona, Giovanni Pergolesi’s hilarious tale of an old guy and his young mistress that revolutionized the opera world. Cathy Fuller hosts.
