On the one month anniversary of the Newtown shooting, WXXI presents Healing the Broken-Hearted. This one hour concert, airing Monday, January 14, 2013 at 12 noon on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1., will feature American music, including a newly commissioned requiem mass â€śMissa Brevis for the Children” by Lita Grier interspersed with a prayerful array of solo art songs.

For the first time, five of Chicago’s nationally recognized children’s choirs will join together in concert at St. James Cathedral -- Soul Children of Chicago, Chicago Children’s Choir, Anima Young Singers of Chicago, Pro Music Youth Chorus, and Red Rose Children’s Chorus. The groups will be joined by the St. James Cathedral Choir and the William Ferris Chorale. They will perform not just as choirs singing together, but as musical citizens determined to sing with “one voice” in service of the grieving families who lost their children.

The Project Director is Doreen Rao, who will also conduct. This program is produced by Carolyn Paulin and engineered by Eric Arunas, both of WFMT Chicago.
