July 2013 program highlights for From the Top

Sundays at 5:00 p.m.

School's out for summer, but From the Top continues to highlight the best young student musicians from coast to coast.

7/7       From the Top’s second show at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing with the Great Wall International Music Academy. You’ll hear an amazing 13-year-old musician who plays an ehru, a traditional Chinese instrument that is like a two-stringed fiddle.

7/14    From the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, New York, we present a special episode dedicated to the cello, featuring special guest Matt Haimovitz, Christopher O’Riley’s collaborator on Shuffle.Play.Listen.

7/21    From New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in Boston, MA, you’ll hear an 18-year-old recorder player, a singer from Beijing who studies at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and one of the tiniest violinist we’ve ever had on the show!

7/28    From The Palace Theatre in Greensburg, PA, you’ll hear a 12-year-old pianist from nearby Pittsburgh, PA and a 14-year-old harpist from nearby Wexford, PA. You’ll also enjoy a performance by the winning quartet from the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
