Monica J. Cook, assistant coach for Rochester Institute of Technology’s Women’s Soccer Team, tells her story of making the tough decision to give up the game she loved because of multiple hits to the head.

The program also reveals the “five signs” that should alert you to go to the Emergency Room after a head injury, and answers the question “Does a normal brain scan rule out concussion?” Second Opinion Concussion airs Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m. on WXXI-TV.

Second Opinion is the only regularly scheduled health series on public television. Each week, Dr. Peter Salgo engages a panel of medical professionals and patients in honest, in-depth discussions about life-changing medical decisions. Produced in partnership with WXXI, the University of Rochester Medical Center, and West 175 Productions, Second Opinion is made possible in part by support from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), which sponsored the series since 2004. The series is distributed by American Public Television.
