(Rochester, New York) July 1, 2013 – Before Broadway leading man and Glee star Matthew Morrison makes his way to Rochester for his one-night-only concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, he’ll join WXXI’s Robert Hammond for a special edition of Stage Notes, Saturday, July 6 at 12 p.m. on Classical 91.5. During the radio broadcast, Morrison will talk about his new CD, Where It All Began, and the show he’s bringing to the Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre on July 20th. Listeners will also enjoy classic songs from Morrison’s various Broadway productions.
Morrison, who grew up in the O.C. (aka Orange County, California), attended New York University's Tisch School for two years until he could no longer resist the bright lights of Broadway. His talent is reflected by the shows he has starred in. He originated the role of Link Larkin in Hairspray, earned a Tony nomination for his performance in Light in the Piazza and was Lieutenant Cable in the first revival of South Pacific. In 2009, his role in Glee took him to new heights of success and popularity.
Stage Notes is produced by WXXI and hosted by Rochester's own Robert Hammond, who brings his vast knowledge and passion for theatre and music to this one-hour radio series. In addition to playing music from Broadway's best, Hammond shares news about the local theatre community, as well as about nationally recognized directors, choreographers and stars, and presents the occasional interview and behind- the-scenes conversation. Stage Notes airs Saturdays at 12 p.m. on Classical 91.5.
