(Rochester, New York) June 24, 2013 – WXXI’s national financial literacy series Biz Kid$ has received a Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement In Single Camera Editing.” The series was also nominated this year for “Outstanding Achievement In Sound Editing - Live Action” and “Outstanding Achievement In Sound Mixing - Live Action.”  

Biz Kid$ is a half-hour TV magazine aimed at increasing financial literacy among tweens and young teens. Using a clever blend of entertainment and education, each Biz Kid$ episode shows kids how to make and manage money by introducing concepts of financial literacy and entrepreneurship. To keep young viewers engaged, the series includes a fast-paced mix of direct education delivered by young actors, sketch comedies, animation, and stories featuring real-life young entrepreneurs.  The show is complemented by a resource rich website, lesson plans, outreach activities, and a monthly electronic newsletter. The program premiered in January 2008 and has aired on more than 350 PBS affiliate stations around the U.S. In Rochester, it airs Fridays at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on WXXI-TV.

Biz Kid$, co-produced by WXXI Public Broadcasting and Biz Kid$, LLP, is distributed nationally by American Public Television. The Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2 a.m. - 6 p.m. during the 2012 calendar year. Biz Kid$ has now won two national Emmy Awards and been nominated 13 times.
