Follow the evolution of Monty Python from its beginnings as a wacky British sketch comedy troupe to its current standing as a certified global phenomenon that redefined humor and shaped an entire generation of American comics in MONTY PYTHON CONQUERS AMERICA on WXXI-TV airing Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 9:30 p.m. During the broadcast viewers will learn more about a Monty Python Film Festival hosted at The Little Theatre in partnership with WXXI and Geva Theatre Center in anticipation of Geva’s production of Spamalot

In the documentary, Judd Apatow, Hank Azaria, David Hyde Pierce and other performers share their favorite Python moments and explain how the group influenced their work and inspired them to push the boundaries of entertainment.

The British comedy group rose to fame with its comedy sketch show “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” that first aired on BBC in 1969.  The show’s success has led to subsequent films, albums, stage shows, books, and individual stardom for the group members.  Monty Python’s members include John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and, formerly, Graham Chapman.
