Hear the show that taped from Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre last March, featuring young musicans from Rochester. 

The Rochester episode of NPR's From the Top with host Christopher O’Riley and world-renowned flutist Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway, which taped March 19, 2014 at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, airs on Classical 91.5 on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 5 p.m.

The program features 19-year-old Eastman School of Music student soprano Emily Helenbrook from Alexander, New York, as well as 16-year-old Annie Jacobs-Perkins from Pittsford, principal cellist with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Hochstein School student. In addition 10-year-old violinist Pierce Wang from Fremont, California; and 16-year-old pianist Carmen Knoll from Carlstadt, New Jersey, who is a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, perform.

Sir Galway also plays with an ensemble of young musicians from the Eastman School of Music and Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RPYO). They are June Kim (ESM) and Gwen Healy (RPYO), oboes; Dominic Giardino (ESM and From the Top alum) and Jeffrey Guo (RPYO), clarinets; Quinn Delaney (ESM and From the Top alum) and Maggie Bacon (RPYO), bassoons; and Russell Rybicki (ESM) and Nikolette LaBonte (ESM), horns.

From the Top, a weekly series airing Sundays at 5 p.m. on Classical 91.5, features the stories and musical performances of America's outstanding young classical musicians. Each one-hour program features performances by soloists or ensembles ages 8-18 who are often accompanied by host Christopher O’Riley.
