Tune in as WordGirl takes on a whole week of new villians!

WordGirl battles some dastardly new malcontents in the weeklong summer special “There’s a New Villain in Town,” airing July 19-23 at 4:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 11/cable 1011). The special week features two new episodes and the latest villains to wreak Havoc on the city! Seymour Smooth, Ms. Question, Kid Potato, Nocan the Contrarian, Royal Dandy and Guy Rich steal onto the scene and, in his first starring bad-guy role, The Amazing Rope Guy turns out to be more of a mimic than a menace.

WORDGIRL, the new PBS KIDS GO! series from Scholastic Media and Soup2Nuts that chronicles the adventures of Becky Botsford, a mild-mannered fifth grader who, at the call of duty, transforms into WordGirl — caped crusader and definition dynamo, debuted as a series of on-air and online shorts in November 2006.  The full half-hour animated series, featuring the voices of Tom Kenny ("SpongeBob SquarePants"), Chris Parnell ("Saturday Night Live") and veteran character actor Jeffrey Tambor, premiered in fall 2007.
