Rochester is getting ready to host the 2016 Simpson Cup for veterans, who have suffered from PTSD or other injuries.

The 2016 Simpson Cup, an international golf tournament for disabled and injured veterans, will be hosted at Oak Hill Country Club this September. Teams of 13 injured servicemen and veterans from the USA and the UK compete in this golf event every year. The Ryder Cup style tournament showcases the unique position of golf as one of the few sports where players of all skills and abilities can play together on a level playing field, because of the official golf handicap system. The event raises funds for the On Course Foundation, an organization that supports the recovery of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel through golf.

On Wednesday, May 4 at 12 p.m. on AM 1370/WRUR-FM 88.5 Connections host Evan Dawson introduces us to the 2016 American and British captains, and they'll discuss broader issues related to supporting injured service members.

Guests include: John Simpson, founder of the Simpson Cup Steve Ogletree, American captain living with depression and PTSD; Paul Swain, UK captain who lost an arm in a bomb blast in Afghanistan; and  Jeremy Bagley, executive director of JDRF Rochester and a 10-year veteran of the United States Army.
