Brizard Responds to State Data on "College Readiness"

Rochester City School Superintendent Jean-Claude Brizard reacted in an article in the New York Times that first reported the new data from state education officials.

In the New York Times article, Rochester's 5.1% college readiness rate is the lowest listed among the large urban districts in the state. Buffalo's college readines rate is 15.6% and Syracuse's rate is listed at 14.7%.

The Times included this graphic (.pdf) that further breaks down the data.

RCSD Superintendent Brizard also told the Times that he welcomed the effort to move the conversation away from simply graduating. Click Here for more from WXXI News. Click on the video box below to hear exceprts from Superintendent Brizard's news conference Tuesday, February 8.
