Cuomo Announces Competitive SUNY Grant Program

Governor Andrew Cuomo says SUNY's four State University Centers will compete for a total of $140 million dollars for what he says will be "seed money" for plans to expand the centers and create jobs.

WXXI Capitol Bureau Correspondent Karen DeWitt reports that this idea grew out of the State University at Buffalo's UB2020 plan. That economic development and capital improvement plan has been awaiting legislative approval for years.

The other schools in Binghamton, Albany and Stony Brook on Long Island have until the end of this year to develop their competing plans.
