Met Opera Radio National Council Grand Finals
(Rochester, New York) – Recorded March 10, 2013 and hosted by renowned soprano Sondra Radnovovsky, The Met Opera Radio National Council Grand Finals, airing Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1, features performances by the competitors and winners of the prestigious 2013 National Council Auditions, including Michael Brandenburg (tenor), Brandon Cedel (bass-baritone), Sydney Mancasola (soprano), Musa Ngqungwana (bass-baritone), Rebecca Peterson (soprano), and Thomas Richards (bass-baritone). Radnovovsky also performs the aria "Pace, pace, mio dio" from Verdi’s La Forza del Destino during the show.
The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions is a program designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers. Past awardees include Eastman graduate Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Ben Heppner, Jessye Norman, Samuel Ramey, Frederica von Stade, Deborah Voigt and Dolora Zajick. Annually, approximately 100 former auditioners appear in Metropolitan Opera productions.
