Jerome Moross: The Heart of America
(Rochester, New York) – August 1st marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the American composer of film scores, orchestral music, ballets, operas, Broadway musicals, and American songs. Michael Feinstein hosts Jerome Moross: The Heart of America, airing Thursday, August 1, 2013 a 12:00 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1, which features commentary by such stars as Jerry Stiller and Tony Bennett, and Moross' own daughter, Susanna Moross Tarjan, plus many more.
Perhaps best known for his Academy Award-nominated score in William Wyler's western, The Big Country, Moross explored a variety of genres though his compositions, crafting everything from the Wagon Train theme song to the ballet, Frankie and Johnny, based on the traditional American song of the same name.
