Jerome Moross: The Heart of America
(Rochester, New York) – August 1st marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the American composer of film scores, orchestral music, ballets, operas, Broadway musicals, and American songs. Michael Feinstein hosts Jerome Moross: The Heart of America, airing Thursday, August 1, 2013 a 12:00 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1, which features commentary by such stars as Jerry Stiller and Tony Bennett, and Moross' own daughter, Susanna Moross Tarjan, plus many more.
Perhaps best known for his Academy Award-nominated score in William Wyler's western, The Big Country, Moross explored a variety of genres though his compositions, crafting everything from the Wagon Train theme song to the ballet, Frankie and Johnny, based on the traditional American song of the same name. Moross' legacy and impact in the music world is still going strong.
