San Francisco Opera

The San Francisco Opera has presented the United States debut performances of numerous artists from around the world.

The WFMT Radio Network continues the American Opera series with the SAN FRANCISCO OPERA hosted by Elaine Warner and Dianne Nicolini. These programs include operas from their past season performed in the War Memorial Opera House, their home since October 1932.

October's presentations from the San Francisco Opera include two of Verdi's finest operas: La Traviata and Falstaff featuring Nicole Cabell as Violette and Bryn Terfel as Falstaff.

September's San Francisco Opera presentations include Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer (special time 3:00 p.m.), Britten's Peter Grimes and operas by Rossini and Richard Strauss.

August features Boito's retelling of Goethe's Faust and Puccini's masterful melodrama Tosca

The world premier of Mark Adamo's The Gospel of Mary Magdalene is presented on October 19th.

Starring as the fierce, obsessive whaling-boat captain whose descent into madness puts his crew in mortal danger is Jay Hunter Morris in Jake Heggie's Moby-Dick on September 14.
