A John Waters "Stage Notes"
A John Waters "Stage Notes"
Sat, 12/01/2012 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Join host Robert Hammond for a titillating edition of Stage Notes with John Waters (Hairspray, Cry-Baby, Pink Flamingos). To be sure, Hammond’s up close and personal interview has moments of complete hilarity, but a softer side of the American icon is exposed. Find out which musical Hammond hates when Waters takes over as interviewer.
“Like a wayward Santa for the Christmas obsessed, legendary filmmaker and raconteur John Waters rides into town on his sleigh full of smut this December spreading yuletide cheer with his critically acclaimed one-man show, A John Waters Christmas. Putting the “X” in Xmas, Waters’ rapid-fire monologue explores and explodes traditional archetypes as he shares his compulsive desire to give and receive perverted gifts, a religious fanaticism for Santa Claus, and an unhealthy love of true crime holiday horror stories. Delving into his passion for lunatic exploitation Christmas movies and the unhealthy urge to remake all his own films into seasonal children’s classics, “The Pope of Trash” will give you a Joyeaux Noel like no other.” – The New York Times
Brought to Rochester by ImageOut, A John Waters Christmas hits the Hochstein School of Music and Dance stage Sunday, December 16th at 7:30 p.m. Ticket information available at http://www.imageout.org.

John Waters
Baltimore-born filmmaker began his Hollywood success with now Broadway classic, Hairspray in 1988. Claiming his playful nicknames “Pope of Trash” and “Prince of Puke,” he maintains his image through his filmmaking and his personal presentation. Regarded as a shocking entertainer, John Waters carefully chooses his material and exploits it through a dirty lens.
