Cory Monteith

Unlike any other program, Glee brings Broadway to television—it’s made show choir cool.

Sunday, July 13 marks the one-year anniversary of Glee star Cory Monteith’s tragic death. That same week, fellow Glee star Matthew Morrison released his CD, Where it All Began, and performed with the Rochester Pops. He dedicated the concert to Cory. Morrison was a guest on Stage Notes to talk about his CD a few days before Monteith’s death.

The day of Morrison’s concert with the RPO, host Robert Hammond dedicated the entire program in tribute to Cory Monteith.  The program was filled with Glee songs and featured several songs from Morrison’s new CD.  This week, Hammond will re-air portions of the tribute program.

Glee focuses on the fictitious William McKinley High School glee club, New Directions, which competes on the show choir competition circuit while its disparate members deal with relationships, sexuality, social issues, and learning to become an effective team.
