Broadway Says Goodbye

Broadway Says Goodbye

Sat, 08/16/2014 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

To say the least, this has been a difficult week in Tinseltown and on Broadway. Family, friends, and the world are saying goodbye to two Hollywood and Broadway greats: Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall.

On Broadway there are many ways to say goodbye. Some people are singing about their careers, while others are songs about saying goodbye to the person they love. Some Broadway songs could be about a person dying and wishing he/she could have done more, and others are about starting over or even just moving on to a new show or career. Broadway songs about saying goodbye could be sad, happy, or somewhere in the middle.

Join host Robert Hammond as he says “hello” to the many moods of Broadway goodbye songs.

"The stage is bare. The crowds are gone. The love we shared still lingers on. We sang and played and we laughed and cried.  And in our tumbling way we tried. To say that only hearts can know, and all too soon we had to go. But now here in this darkened room—just empty seats. There’s just me and you..." (David Badillo)
