Music for Easter Sunday -- and beyond

I look forward to tomorrow's program, but......

I think it's unfortunate that (again) the selections will be limited to English and American music.

With all of the great music composed and written for Easter, why limit the repetoire so?

When Richard had the program and since then, too, I've wished that its selections were more catholic in content, not so heavily British, and more inclusive of the great music of Germany, France, Italy, Russia and elsewhere, and that, more than just occasionally or infrequently, music from the Lutheran (chorales), Roman Catholic and Orthodox traditions were interspersed with that from the Anglican.

For many years, I've found the programing to be inordinately "ethnic".

The "pond" that's out there and available is much larger, and has in it many more "fishes" to choose from.

Notwithstanding, I'm sure the program will be excellent.

Thanks, and a blessed Eastertide to you.

Dear Jonathan,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We always enjoy getting feedback from listeners, as it helps us shape our future programing choices. I think you'll find tomorrow's Easter celebration to be more diverse than you are expecting.

The program will include Resurrection from Marcel Dupre's Symphonie Passion, Ralph Manuel's Alleluia, and Te Deum settings by Pierre Cochereau and Jean Langlais.

If there are particular pieces you would like to see included in future programs, you can email withheartandvoice@wxxi.org.

Thank you for listening to the program, and Happy Easter!
